The Power of Pictures:

As a high functioning dyslexic with dyscalculia (to use the technical jargon!) I am very interested in the wide variation of ways that our brains function, and in the power of visual learning. Humans mentally record and retrieve highly complex messages through easily recalled images with astonishing speed and accuracy so I think there is a much greater potential for visual arts to play a pivotal role in both education and the work place. In wider society pictures can transcend the barriers of language, society, and culture – has that ever been needed more in this world?

The Magic of Art:

Drawing is a visual alchemy that never ceases to amaze me: a pencil stroke, a changed angle, or an added curve, can transform meaningless flat marks on the page into a leaping horse, a dark void or a dancing figure. Add in shade, tone, and colour, and you enter a whole world of visual complexity and creative power.
